I bought this shoe for a 5 day hiking trip I took to Hawaii. This shoe was light and comfortable from the moment I took them from the box. I have a wide toe box and the shoe fit me perfectly. I wear a size 11 in most shoes and this was certainly true to size. The hiking trip was 5 days and 31 miles, rugged terrain and multiple river crossings. This shoe was awesome! At home and around town I wear them barefoot. On the trail I wore smart wool socks with them and even though my feet got wet every day, including being wet and muddy for 2 straight days in the rain, I never got a blister or even sore feet. The other 4 guys I was with had Merrel or other brands and they all got blisters and most of them had sore feet. The mesh is fine and did not allow any small rocks in. What little river sediment or beach sand that got into the shoe was easily rinsed out even with my foot in the shoe. Whatever mud that got on them came right off and with very little effort the shoe looked like new again. The shoe dried faster than any of my friends shoes in the sun, even if I was wearing them. They obviously did not dry when it was raining but were still very comfortable. I would recommend that before you wear them in the water that they be sprayed with some sort of a water repelent. I did not do this but I think it would help them to be even more water resistent because the leather did soak up some water.
